Getting Ready – Revelation 22:6–20

How sure are you that you are ready?

There is still plenty of time to do your Christmas shopping for next year. If time continues as it always has, there are over 350 days until next Christmas, so you have plenty of time.

However, God does not use the same calendar that people use. He is the only One who knows when the end of this present age will occur. Since you do not know how much time is left before God begins the events recorded in the book of Revelation, if you are wise, you will immediately prepare for them to begin.

The Bible says, “The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; . . . the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation [conduct] and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God?” (II Peter 3:10–12).

God keeps His promises, and He does it according to His timing, not according to mankind’s timing. Therefore, if you are wise, you will make sure that you are prepared for the things God has promised. “These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done” (v. 6).

There are three very important verses in this last chapter of the Bible. They are as follows. “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book” (v. 7). “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (v. 12). “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (v. 20).

You should never wait until December 24 to get ready for Christmas. You should not wait even one more day to get ready for God to fulfill His promise of the Lord’s return to the earth. Get ready now, and begin the New Year by being prepared to meet the Lord. He will come quickly!
