ABCs of Christmas (X) – Philippians 2:9–11

How are you eXalting God this Christmas?

The “X” of Christmas could be eXtraordinary, or it could be eXalt.

Nearly everything about the Christmas story describes something eXtraordinary that God did to convey His love for mankind. All of these events were intended to cause men and women to believe on and to eXalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

The more you learn of the details about the birth of the Lord, the more you will be inclined to feel like Mary did when she said, “My soul doth magnify [eXalt] the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:46, 47). She said this because of the eXtraordinary happening that God was doing in her body to prepare for the birth of the Savior. This was the only time in the entire history of mankind that a virgin gave birth to a child.

The shepherds had the eXtraordinary opportunity to hear the news of the Savior’s birth directly from God’s special messenger. They then went to Bethlehem to rejoice and eXalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

The child grew, became a man, and fulfilled His ministry. Later, Peter was preaching and eXalting the Lord and said, “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God eXalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins” (Acts 5:30, 31). God did many eXtraordinary things to enable you to receive the gift of eternal life. Use this Christmas as a reminder to do all you can to eXalt Him. This is God’s plan for you.

“Wherefore God also hath highly eXalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9–11).
