ABCs of Christmas (Q) – Revelation 3:11

What question is God asking you?

The “Q” of Christmas could be Quickly, or it could be Question; both are related to Christmas.

The birth of Jesus occurred when very few people were expecting it, but it all happened quickly. Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God” (Luke 2:13). As soon as the shepherds heard the good news, “they came with haste and found . . . the babe lying in a manger” (Luke 2:16).

Even though the events that are remembered and celebrated during the Christmas season happened quickly, this does not mean that you should become so busy that you do not have time to worship the Lord. Slow down and take some special time every day to think about the Lord who came to the earth about 2,000 years ago. Worship Him!

A very common question during this time of year is, “What do you want for Christmas?” A more important question is, “What does the Lord want from you this Christmas?”

As you think about His birth, consider what question He is asking you. On one occasion Jesus said, “I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things” (Mark 11:29). He said this to a group people who were questioning His authority.

During this busy time of the year, be careful that you do not allow most of your time to be consumed with things that do not have eternal value. If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, He has the authority to be the Lord of your life. Do not question His authority, but ask Him questions about what you can do during this Christmas season that will honor Him.

As you think about these questions, remember that Jesus said, “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown” (Revelation 3:11).
